Forever Strong
"Forever Strong" is a very powerful sports film that has a lot of heart. Filming took place in Utah, so although this movie is very different from what I have done in the past, the location is home to me because Utah is where all the HSM movies were filmed. The story focuses on the Highland Rugby team led by coach Larry Gelwix. I think the movie is a very inspirational story not only about sports but also about personal achievement. This movie is very story and character driven, and I'm glad that I had the chance to be a part of it. Sports fans will enjoy the movie because it really embodies a team spirit, but I also think that the movie is for anyone who wants to see an uplifting film.
"Forever Strong"
Based on a true story, "Forever Strong" stars Sean Farris as Rick Penning the troubled high school rugby player from Arizona who must leave his team when he is sentenced to live in a boy's home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Rick is eventually recruited by Highland Rugby, the predominant rugby team in Salt Lake City that ruled the sport for three decades. Conflict arises when Rick finds himself playing against his old high school team coached by his father Neal Penning (Neal McDonough).
Directed by Ryan Little and written by David Pliler "Forever Strong" focuses on the legacy of the famous Highland Rugby team and Larry Gelwix's influence in the sport. Filming took place in Salt Lake City, Utah. Larry Gelwix served as technical advisor in the film. At the time of filming Gelwix and his team had won 16 national titles, when the film was in post production Gelwix and his team coveted their 17th national title. The film also stars Olesya Rulin, Sean Astin, Arielle Kebbel, and Julie Warner. "Forever Strong" will be released in theaters on October 2008.
